At 73 years of age, Dan Healy took his first step northbound on the Appalachian Trail. Follow Dans dream of completing the 2189 mile thru hike starting from Springer Mountain in Georgia. His goal was to complete the hike within one year to receive his certificate of completion from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. He also made a promise to his 92-year-old mother to complete the hike and raise money for the American Cancer Society as he had lost a son and his sister to the disease.
